Lumpsum Calculator
Estimate how a one-time investment could grow over time with annual compounding.
Lumpsum Growth Calculator
How this lumpsum calculator works
It uses annual compounding:
FV = P × (1 + r)t
Here P is the amount invested, r is the expected annual return and t is the number of years.
Worked example
₹5,00,000 invested for 10 years at an assumed 12% a year would grow to about ₹15,52,924.
Keep in mind
Investing a large sum in equity all at once exposes it fully to the market's level on that day. Many investors use an STP to move money in over 6 to 12 months instead.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is lumpsum or SIP better?
Neither is always better. A lumpsum is invested fully from day one, while a SIP spreads your purchases over time. If you have a large sum but worry about market timing, an STP combines both approaches.
Does the lumpsum calculator account for tax?
No. It shows pre-tax values and ignores exit loads.
Can returns be negative?
Yes. Equity and some debt funds can lose value, especially over short periods. The calculator assumes a steady positive return for illustration only.
