How this education calculator works
It grows today's course cost by your chosen education-inflation rate until the year of admission. It then calculates the monthly SIP needed to reach that amount, assuming 12% a year.
Worked example
A course that costs ₹20 lakh today, needed in 15 years at 8% education inflation, would cost about ₹63.4 lakh. Reaching that needs a SIP of about ₹12,574 a month.
Keep in mind
Education costs, especially private and overseas courses, have historically risen faster than general inflation. As admission gets closer, consider moving the money into lower-volatility funds so a market fall does not hit it right before the fees are due.
Frequently Asked Questions
What inflation rate should I use for education?
Education costs in India have often risen faster than general inflation. Many planners use 8% to 10%, and higher for overseas courses.
Should I plan separately for each child?
Yes. Each child has a different timeline, so a separate SIP per child makes progress easy to track.
What if I already have some savings for this goal?
Subtract the future value of your existing savings from the target. The SIP needed will be lower than the calculator shows.
